Not only aeroplanes and telegraphs, but the spread of knowledge also has brought the peoples of the world closer. Even two hundred years ago people knew very little about the foreign lands. But as more and more people learned to read, they began to know more and more about other countries and the people there, and thus came to know their good points The other countries might have something to teach them. China taught the world the use of the mariner's compass, and it was from India that Europe learn how to count. We too have learnt much from Europe. We have thus come to respect each other. Or, those countries may have some goods we want, and we buy them for ourselves. they too take what we can give them. Thus people's needs draw them together.
