INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION — by the staff reporter
KOLKATA, 15 AUGUST : Like every year, Akna Union High school celebrated a special program eon Independence Day with pomp and great joy. People's faces could be seen with pride and joy on that day. Everyone is excited to celebrate the event. The home minister was invited as the chief guest. Besides, the parents of the students were also present there with full enthusiasm in the memorable event. Everyone was proud to be a citizen of his beloved country. All arrangements are done by the teacher and some students of the school. The students cleaned their classrooms and decorated them with colorful balloons and ribbons.
The program started with prayers at 9 am. There was a big platform on which all the senior teachers, principal, vice-principal, minister and honorable person were sitting on chairs. After the prayer, some students marched. I was also attending the event and enjoying watching the parade. It was amazing, which instilled in me a strong passion for my beloved country. At the end of the parade, the secretary of the school and principal hoisted the flag together.
When they hoisted the flag, everyone present sang the national anthem. As the show progressed, we were getting more and more excited. Students then presented various activities. A few students gave speeches with great passion. Finally, the organizer invited the chief guest to distribute prizes among the participating students.
Our principal also gave a speech on how we got freedom. Listening to his speech, we feel pride for our forefathers who sacrificed their lives to achieve their country. So, we decided to protect our country at any cost and be its loyal and sincere citizens. At the end of the program, all the students were given a box of sweets.
