PRECIS
One day Maharshi Devendranath Tagore came to a bare piece of land in course of his travels. Only two big trees grew upon it. He liked the place very much because it was so large and so far away from a city. He felt that it would be a very good place in which one could think about God. It is said that he sat down in the shade of one of the trees and let his thoughts go to God and good works. He at once made up his mind to buy the land and build an ashram there. He bought it and called the house Santiniketan. He planted tree and flowers gardens and fruit gardens.
