Sonthalpur, 5th March: A daring robbery was committed in the late hours of the night on the 3rd of this month at the house of Srj. Sribashchandra De, a merchant of the place. A remittance of Rs. 50,000/- came to him the previous afternoon. The news of this must have got out somehow. At about 3 a.m. Sribash Babu's wife was roused from sleep by a noise outside the room. Before she could realize what the matter was, a number of men broke open the door, bound her and her husband hand and foot, and compelled them at the point of the dagger to give up the key to the iron safe. Fortunately, there was nothing valuable there on that particular night except the money referred to. So the net loss is not much to the family, but both the husband and the wife are confined to bed on account of the mental shock they received. The police have taken up the matter and are making vigorous inquiries, though no arrest has yet been made.
