 PRECIS

Why do we want to know history?  Simply because all of us and every one of us ought to know how we have come to be what we are so that each generation need not start again from the same point, and toil over the same ground,  but profiting by the experience of those who came before,   may advance toward higher points and noble aims.  As a child one might ask of his father our grandfather who had to build the house they lived in,  we ask histories whence we came and how welcome into possession and of what we call our own. History metal us afterward many useful and amazing things, gossip,  such as a child might like to hear from his father or grandfather,  but what history has to teach us before all and everything,  is our antecedents,   our own ancestors.

The role of history

Answer:

 The role of history

literary history means the story of the past but in the actual sense, history refers to an experience with which we can proceed further.  Otherwise, we have to go back to the same line our own ancestors had followed. Thus, history in all Spear advancement for the future.
